Caboose Industries Ground Throws

Now i have manged to build three levels of Base boards structure, i need to start laying track in the hard to reach area's before i board over the top.

I have been watching loads of Youtube Videos on Operating Layouts and noticed Caboose Industries Ground Throw switches are used alot.  I like the idea of have to move the switch yourself and not just press a bottom, i feel it will add to the operation.  So i bought a few to see how well they work and i am very impressed.
The Peco Code 83 track has small holes in the tie bar of the point, these are just to small to take the pin from the Ground Throw, so i use a small circular file to very carefully widen the hole to take the pin.  I then glue the Switch to the extended tie sleepers on the point.

The Top picture shows the first piece of point work on the layout, this is coming off level 1 and back onto the Helix to continue up to the next level.  The pictures on the left shows the Switch fixed to the tie bars,  once i have the track all in place i will be spraying it with Sleeper Grim to dirty it all up.  The Switch a good cheap way of operating your points, with over 50 points on this layout, its a lot of motors and point modules to be buying.  but as i have said before i feel this gets you more involved with the layout.

All Caboose Industries ground throws are molded of strong, self-lubricating black Delrin.  An external cam provides maximum life and travel for each model.  The ingenious design provides a positive lock in both straight and curved directions of throw, effective from 10° above horizontal to the full down position.  A detent assists in holding the handle horizontal for installation purposes.

Caboose Industries ground throws are useful in a variety of scales and applications.  All Caboose Industries ground throws are available in sprung and rigid configurations.
